A rotation programme has been developed at WWL NHS FT for Band 5 Registered Nurses.  The programme comprises of 3 placements of 6 months each, where you will be supported to achieve specific learning objectives, whether that means being supported through Preceptorship or developing your management skills. There are four different programmes to choose from:

Programme 4 (Surgery & Trauma Orthopaedics): Langtree Ward/Swinley Ward/Aspull ward

You must state in your application which Programme you are applying for.

Months 1-6: Completion of clinical skills (including a formal taught induction programme), Preceptorship and developing a professional portfolio of evidence in preparation for Revalidation.

Months 6-12: Consolidation of skills and acquisition of skills such as cannulation and phlebotomy. In addition you will be able to gain specialist skills associated with your particular clinical area, such as capillary blood gas sampling

Months 12-18: You will undertake the Band 5>6 Development Package, which will enhance your management and leadership skills, ready for the next step in your nursing career.

At the end of the programme, you will either be able to choose your preferred clinical area for your permanent post as a Staff Nurse at WWL or have the option of continuing on the rotation programme in a different specialty (subject to availability).
